Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of Ancient Arts is a pure dungeon crawler and a remake of the 1989 classic "Dungeon Explorer." The majority of the action takes place in various dungeons. Each dungeon is unlocked after completing various quests by acquiring "plates" and can be upgraded by inserting gems into these plates. Each level is more challenging than the previous one and can be selected at any time. The gems can be used not only in dungeons but also in alchemy or when equipping weapons and armor. These gems are elemental in nature, and each element is associated with a status ailment. The title offers three races and six classes. At a certain point, the character has the option to change classes when not in the dungeons, with each class retaining its own ranks ("E" to "S").
