Neo-Geo Pocket

The monochrome Neo Geo Pocket launched in Japan in July 1998 — SNK wanted to get ahead of the Game Boy Color announcement Sega was about to make. The display was a reflective STN LCD, the same type as the original Game Boy. The library before colour arrived amounts to a handful of titles. Practically no releases reached PAL markets: the system remained essentially a Japanese product with limited Asian distribution. Collectors approaching NGP hardware typically go straight to the Pocket Color, which has an accessible price and a meaningful library.
