Megadrive 32X

The 32X was developed internally under the codename "Mars" as a stopgap: Sega knew the Saturn was coming but feared losing ground in Western Mega Drive markets. The result was an add-on requiring the Mega Drive, its power supply, the 32X power supply, and a video pass-through cable — four things daisy-chained together for an experience nobody actually wanted. Forty games in the library, many of them mediocre ports. Knuckles' Chaotix is the only title with genuinely interesting game design, exploiting the elastic mechanic between characters in a way nothing else has replicated. Complete with box, original cables and sealed games, the 32X is today a museum piece — acquire it strictly complete or not at all.
